Richland Township is located in Missaukee County. A portion of the city of McBain is located in the southeast border of the township. The unincorporated community of Lucas is also located in Richland Township. It was founded in 1876 by William Taylor. A number of Dutch settlers, including Harm Lucas and his five sons, arrived in 1882. A post office named “Lucas” was established a year later.
